Geometry as Bloom

Menier Gallery presents the ‘Gestures and Geometries’ exhibition by Andrew Paterson. In his latest collection, Andrew Paterson delivers a breathtaking series of visual contradictions. Mathematical structures are juxtaposed with soft smudges of graffiti in a collection where texture, colour and gesture contravene and overlay. Paterson was inspired by Japanese and Islamic calligraphy and aperiodic Penrose tiling. Brought together here the expected dissonance is resolved; it manifests as bloom.
