It became increasingly popular among women in the late 18th century and early 19th century, for British upper-class young women travelling Europe was part of formal education and a form of entrance into elite society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think of the sun sand and sea of, say, an Italian coast <\/a>with rippling turquoise seas shimmering from the bright glowing sun, where lemons and oranges grew freely. Paint the picture and it’s easy to imagine the colours and sparkles of the passionate country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
