With its radical gender parity message &#8211; it was the first club<br \/>to pay male and female players the same &#8211; the club celebrates an inclusive environment within and around the pitch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8ef69234df6d69a2b86288273d5ef8a8 wp-block-paragraph\">Images Andrew Farrar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7db85a386700653b4e34688a65b08c71 wp-block-paragraph\">The song\u2019s name \u201cEYECONIC\u201d draws inspiration from <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/long-live-and-love-the-lobster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Colber<\/a>t\u2019s eye symbol which she uses throughout her art practice &#8211; including monumental sculptures, installations and films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7c0bf76edc76fbdfd496bd32dbbbbdda wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe eye links dreams and reality and for me represents the power of positive visualisation in creating a future we want to be part of. Lewes FC with its strong gender parity stance and<br \/>being 100% community owned enacts the change they want to see and that\u2019s so inspiring \u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4b23d8c7608af07d1da2cdb3645f56c8 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cI always loved football and I love charlotte\u2019s work so it was really inspiring for me to write a football anthem that could be sung in locker rooms and on the pitch.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f6dee07120c1739448d5a8835b17c189 wp-block-paragraph\">Kate Nash<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f554a00d49d43c512aba55c40ed54e91 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEYECONIC\u201d is a galvanising football chant, celebrating<br \/>the \u201crooks\u201d &#8211; the nickname for Lewes FC\u2019s female players. She has such a powerful feminist vision. Charlotte told me about everything she was doing for Lewes FC and what they were doing for female players, that it was community-owned and paid their players equally. She asked me<br \/>to write a song and I jumped at the chance,\u201d she enthuses, adding, \u201cI love Charlotte &#8211; and I love football!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f6dee07120c1739448d5a8835b17c189 wp-block-paragraph\">Kate Nash<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3af2c81df1dc8893d9f44557e54694c7 wp-block-paragraph\">As Nash\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/revolutionizing-beauty-with-quality-inclusivity-and-sustainability\/\">Foundations<\/a>\u201d, was sung on the way to matches<br \/>by the Lionesses during the World Cup 2023, Colbert felt that the collaboration and friendship between them was a great fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-777be8a38c3d27386cbc195285477bac wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cWomen\u2019s football is growing fast\u201d, said the club, \u2018It\u2019s inspiring<br \/>a new generation of young (and older) women \u2013 the potential for the sport is huge.
