What is the reason they have to go back and revisit a previous work? Could it be a desire to re-record it in a different style? Maybe it&#8217;s a subtle difference or potentially it&#8217;s a very far-off new style. Sometimes it took collaboration to bring about change sometimes it was just time or technical advances. Here is a handful of a few that stand the test of time. Songs, Covering Your Own; An Even More Powerful Version<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9eead5d4c1bc664ec1db6b1691663021 wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/bloom-giorgio-moroder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Suzanne Vega<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tom%27s_Diner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tom&#8217;s diner 1987.<\/a> Originally featured on her second studio album,\u00a0Solitude Standing, it was released as a single in Europe only in 1987 following the success of her single &#8220;Luka&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Suzanne Vega - Tom&#039;s Diner (original  version)\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gi02zwXg6wo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a09ce7d6e73f7323d1e6acc7faacab43 wp-block-paragraph\">The remake 1990. It was later used as the basis for a remix by the British group\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/dior-the-house-its-dna-sealed-and-scented\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DNA<\/a>\u00a0in 1990, which reached No. 1 in Austria, Germany, Greece and Switzerland. Written by band members\u00a0Steven Tyler\u00a0and\u00a0Joe Perry, the song was originally released as the second single from the album\u00a0Toys in the Attic. It peaked at number 10 on the\u00a0Billboard\u00a0Hot 100\u00a0in early 1977, part of a string of successful hit singles for the band in the 1970s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Aerosmith - Walk This Way (Live From The Office Depot Center, Sunrise, FL, April 3, 2004)\" width=\"580\" height=\"435\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pL4uESRCnv8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-131e691fe7aff9f2f725eaeadb6b09ef wp-block-paragraph\">In 1986, the\u00a0hip hop\u00a0group\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/line-of-my-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Run-DMC<\/a>\u00a0covered &#8220;Walk This Way&#8221;, collaborating with Aerosmith. While working on\u00a0their <em>Raising Hell<\/em> album, \u00a0Def Jam producer<a href=\"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/hip-hop-50-years-and-rising-still-to-the-top\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Rick Rubin<\/a>\u00a0pulled out\u00a0<em>Toys in the Attic<\/em>. At shows, Run-DMC had\u00a0freestyled\u00a0over the first few seconds of the song on a loop, not knowing what the full song sounded like, or even hearing the lyrics. While\u00a0Joseph Simmons\u00a0and\u00a0Darryl McDaniels\u00a0had no idea who Aerosmith was, Rubin suggested remaking the song. Neither Simmons nor McDaniels liked the idea, and considered the lyrics &#8220;hillbilly gibberish&#8221;, but the band&#8217;s DJ \u00a0Jam Master Jay\u00a0was open to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RUN DMC - Walk This Way (Official HD Video) ft. Written by\u00a0Eric Clapton\u00a0and\u00a0Jim Gordon, originally recorded with their band\u00a0Derek and the Dominos, as the thirteenth track from their only studio album,\u00a0Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. Its contrasting movements were composed separately by Clapton and Gordon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Layla - Derek and the Dominos\" width=\"580\" height=\"435\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Th3ycKQV_4k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0fe63eb5f730ac8de29127c628f9a4ca wp-block-paragraph\">Remake  1992. Clapton reworked his Derek and the Dominos classic for his massively popular 1992 \u2018Unplugged\u2019 album, reimagining the epic rocker as a slow, bluesy acoustic number. It is the fourth track from their fourth album\u00a0One by One, and was released as its second single in 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Foo Fighters - Times Like These (Official HD Video)\" width=\"580\" height=\"435\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rhzmNRtIp8k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e43076903278c87541fba21dbab5e300 wp-block-paragraph\">2004. Dave Grohl\u2019s acoustic version of the Foo Fighters\u2019 song quickly became almost as familiar as the original single version. When President Bush\u2019s reelection campaign used the new recording without asking, Grohl went out and stumped for Bush\u2019s opponent, John Kerry. A music video was produced for the acoustic version. Originally released as a non-album single on 1\u00a0September 1972.
