Home from a long day at work; one of those long days… Undo your shoelaces, put your sneakers in the shoe drawer. Looking at the couch and thinking about lying in it… it’s just a bit too saggy. The plant beside it just looks so sad. Ok then, to the bathroom for a warm shower, but let’s face it, it looks a little grey and tired too. After a rather lacklustre, powerless shower, it’s to the bedroom. But that old flowery blanket of your grandma’s from the 1970s is still on the bed. It’s not just you who is tired, but everything that could be designed in your home looks as you feel; worn out. Worry not, help is at hand. There are new trends in design<\/a> on show at Clerkenwell Design Week. Find out more in Feel the Design in the Modernness of New Innovation<\/em>s<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is time to make a change. And sooner than you thought. From the 20th to the 22nd of May, a design event arrives in London: The Clerkenwell Design Week. The biggest festival of Design, where all types of creators are welcomed in the beautiful area of Clerkenwell, London. This sanctuary of designers, the home of design, architecture<\/a> and beautiful objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"An<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This year, Design London has merged with Clerkenwell Design Week. Meaning the UK\u2019s leading design festival will feature more content, installations, speakers and attendees. More inspiration for your own home, workspace or even outside spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clerkenwell Design Week features a variety of exhibition venues. Leading brands and emerging talent are part of it with their furniture, lighting, textiles, surfaces, accessories and product design from around the world on show. With many venues, there is much to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, one venue named ‘Project’ is set in the beautiful grounds of St James Church, bringing together a leading selection of contract furniture<\/a> and surface brands from around the globe.  <\/strong>Specific companies like the renowned shop SCP will be present, showing high-quality contemporary furniture, lighting, textiles and accessories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another venue is called ‘Design Fields’ showcases leading furniture, lighting and product design from around the world, presenting a diverse range of the best in international<\/a> contemporary design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue ‘Light’ held within the subterranean House of Detention, the former Victorian prison, showcases an array of leading international lighting brands and spectacular stand-alone installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue ‘Elements’ brings together a leading selection of ironmongery, hardware, switch plates and architectural accessories. It’s the destination for designers who are searching for the perfect finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue ‘British Collection’ located in the atmospheric St James’s Church, highlights local brands and showcases new design emanating from Britain. <\/p>\n\n\n

The venue ‘Detail’ brings together a carefully-selected range of refined luxury products from around the world, in the impressive surroundings of The Order of St John. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue ‘Platform’ at Cowcross Street is the hub of emerging talent that gives space to emerging brands about to break into the industry. <\/p>\n\n\n

The venue ”The Ceramics of Italy’ at St John’s Square working in collaboration with the Ceramics Association of Italy. The Italian Trade Agency will present an inspiring display of design and craftsmanship, presenting a range of ceramic and porcelain tiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue ‘Old Sessions House’ at Clerkenwell Green will allow viewers to discover brand activations, presentations and more. Shwocasing will be British and global brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue ‘International Collections’ is showcasing a curated mix of leading brands and emerging talent covering furniture, lighting, textiles, surfaces, accessories and product design from around the world<\/p>\n\n\n

Some of the venues have new places and added a new dimension to the event. The 14th-century medieval complex at The Charterhouse & Charterhouse Square is the new home to contemporary furniture, decorative lighting<\/a> and luxury finishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ‘Church of Design’ situated at St Bartholomew the Great in West Smithfield will offer a breathtaking backdrop for cutting-edge contemporary design products covering all types of interior projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Studio Smithfield at East Poultry Ave is a new creative event space in London\u2019s historic Smithfield Market.<\/p>\n\n\n

Some brands that have offices in the area will have presentations at their office showrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British brand MODUS invites visitors to step into a world where thoughtful design meets sustainability with their new collections ‘Climb, PLC Tube and Panda System’. The Climb shelving system and PLC Tube chair follow design principles for disassembly, while the Panda System makes use of natural, renewable, low-impact materials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One step away, the Italian brand MOROSO makes a lovely return by presenting their highlighted design from the Milan Design Week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look the other way and you will be able to see TAMART, a British furniture and design brand that honoured the work of Tamar de Shalit and Arthur Goldreich, designer and abstract painter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And besides that, Florim and its high-quality tiles from the beautiful country of Italy are on show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is even more during the event, talks and breakfast events, trend events, design conversations on numerous topics, gaming experiences and even puppy yoga. Find the complete programme of events here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, here are just a few ideas of events and conversations going on during the week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conversations with the Brand Consultant Katie Richardson, who discusses ideas and opinions of designers, craft people, or emerging talents about daily problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tour of eight different showrooms guided by Roddy Clarke, a journalist and designer, is made on May 22nd. This tour explores sensorial design, how to approach sustainability by embracing modularity and a circular mindset, and the importance of collaboration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the CDW Late Night, an evening celebration of the brand Villeroy & Boch, designers of the future of bathrooms, will take place with tasteful cocktails and lovely music. Collaborating for the Shaping Water competition, the brand wants designers to explore the functional and aesthetic qualities of water by highlighting its dynamic nature and its transformative impact on wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n
