The ever-changing owners of the villa filled it with exotic vegetation, including deep green American and African palms, bright, vital citrus fruits, and pretty pink Oleanders. But were the flowers always there, bright and playful, since the days of the monastery? Or did the daughters of the Mornico family choose varieties that reminded them most of their affluent youth?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luckily, our olfactory senses can transport us into the Wisteria-filled walkways and slow, relaxing boat rides along Lake Como. While catching a flight to Italy may not be on everyone’s immediate to-do list, filling the home with a magical scent can be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge amount of work alongside the perfumer, Nic Mastenbroek and the Told Family has brought this magical location to the homes of all. In order to bring longevity and stability to this candle, Nic created three accords to fully power the floral-watery scent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial accord, a grouping of notes that create one note, is an aquatic accord. This is, of course, a lake rather than a sea, so this scent is not so much about salty water but a lake essence. With the essence of grasses, woods, and the flora and fauna, they meld smoothly with the water. It’s an uplifting, vibrant accord that adds a fresh, intriguing note to the candle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up comes the Wisteria Accord. This beautiful drooping Lilac flower smells sweet, musky, and floral, and is often described as a mix of Roses, Honey-facets, and delicate Freesia. Also in this ‘make up’, find a soft lingering greenness that allows for floral sweetness but a fresher, brighter trail to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the base notes are the woods. Here, the Sandlawood accord brings the creamy wood it’s famous for, but alongside it, a musky, almost sweet spice joyousness abounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The culmination means that the delicate florals that are sweet and honeyed intertwine with the bracing freshness of the lake waters and comforting creamy woods, wrapping together the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
