Inspired by the artist Soulages’ dark canvases, the new bdk perfume Vanille Caviar begins with the dark Vanilla pod, unfolding into a perfume that speaks closeness and sensual attraction. <\/em>Just as the French artist<\/a><\/strong> Pierre Soulages carved black into luminous textured paintings, the Vanilla pods rested under the sun. The skin, once green, slowly darkens with the years and the sun’s burn. Inside the core of the Vanilla pods lay a fragrance, born from the sun’s heat. Showing the world that darkness was not absence but a medium alive with reflection, depth, and presence. The new perfume from BDK, Vanille Caviar, came from Vanilla pods, where the soft texture of the seeds combined with other beautiful facets. Vanilla<\/strong> Perfume<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inside of Vanilla pods contains small seeds that provide the essential base for creating this fragrance. Each pod carried a paradox: matte and glossy, soft yet vibrant, luminous yet dark. From the hidden grounds of Madagascar to the perfumer’s table in the heart of Paris, the endless journey of Vanilla pods resonated in the brushstrokes of artist Soulages, where black was not just a shadow, black became a place where light appeared. Rooted in the soils of Madagascar, the world\u2019s richest heartland of Bourbon vanilla, the pods started their path on Orchid vines that bloomed only once each year, requiring unyielding hand-pollination within hours. After harvesting, each pod completed an extended, traditional curing process: scalding, sweating, sun-drying, and months of fermentation that transformed the green flesh into the black, aromatic pods renowned globally. Like the artist\u2019s brush giving breath to black, the perfumer layered Vanilla with Cardamom, Cocoa, and Osmanthus, sculpting into radiant depth. The scent breathes like Soulages’ black paintings, dense, reflective, alive with hidden light, carrying within its intimacy of love<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanille Caviar bdk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In BDK perfumes, Vanille Caviar is far beyond a simple fragrance. It\u2019s a paradox of memory with physical presence and is shaped by human intimacy. The perfume explores Vanilla\u2019s raw, sensual, and shadowed side, where darkness breathes instead of sugar. Perfumer Alexandra Carlin approached it as did Soulages with his black canvas, using darkness to reveal light. Inspirational<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Benedek, the founder of perfume house BDK, alongside Alexandra Carlin, the perfumer behind Vanille Caviar, sought out the philosophy of French painter Pierre Soulages, the master of Outrenoir, a concept meaning \u201cBeyond black.\u201d In Soulages’ world, black was not the end of colour but the beginning of light; it was movement, depth, and texture. Enfolded by this, Carlin imagined a fragrance where darkness would not hide beauty but reveal it. The result was a perfume that glowed through contrast, where the dense sensuality of Vanilla was sculpted by brightness, Salt, and mineral clarity like light carved through a black surface. The note in Vanille Caviar was derived from Madagascar, which produces more than 80% of the world\u2019s Vanilla and is valued for its smooth, creamy, and floral aroma. Each pod underwent a traditional process of scalding, fermentation, and sun-drying before the pod was split open to reveal a hidden black gem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fragrance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madagascan Vanilla found the soul of the scent, infused with accents of Blackcurrant bud, Cardamom, and a whisper of Cocoa bean. Osmanthus and a resinous base of Cistus labdanum and Peru balsam lent depth, renewing an ordinary note into a statement of seduction and mystery. The fragrance refused to settle into sweetness alone. Instead, it walked the line between light and shadow, warmth and shadowed intensity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
