From hand-sized Palaeolithic figurines to Renaissance goddesses drifting across canvas, artists have used curves to speak about fertility, desire and cultural power. These bodies were never neutral; both male and female carried the weight of myth, morality and gendered expectation. What changes is the era; what stays the same is the gaze. The body is powerful, heroic and athletic, but the genitalia are kept deliberately small. This wasn’t a flaw in proportion; Renaissance artists linked large penises with lust, foolishness and a loss of self-control. By contrast, a smaller penis signalled rationality and discipline.
