For the fourth GmbH show in Berlin, our home, we started out wanting to create a collection that echoes some of our beginnings as a brand closely connected to music and club culture. This led us to find inspiration in the experimental music scene in Berlin (and Germany) in the early 1980s \u2013 a Berlin before our time \u2013 and in particular the industrial and synth music of DAF and Einst\u00fcrzende Neubauten and its iconic front figure, Blixa Bargeld. While the values of the Berlin we know are quickly being destroyed into oblivion by greed and repression.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection creates links between our grandparents and contemporary fashion rebels such as boda boda riders, who, through highly individualistic and pragmatic alterations, reinvent second-hand clothes imported from the Global North, radically localising them to make them their own.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These defence mechanisms are overlaid with the ascetic attitude found in Scandinavian black metal and other dark metal subcultures: an ethos rooted between restraint and confrontation, resulting in a collection that seeks to reveal those internal battles.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n
