Prolific graphic design artist, animator and music fanatic Run Wrake put his passions together and created live visuals for U2 (including the 360\u00b0 tour) and Rolling Stones concerts, as well as music videos for Gang of Four, Stereo MCs and Howie B. For some though he will be most remembered for his iconic illustrations of musicians that accompanied album reviews in NME’s magazine. A book entitled End Of A Centur<\/em>y has been released to honour the man -who sadly passed away in 2012- and focuses on the work he produced during the 1990s, that evidently summarized the most metamorphosed pop decade.<\/p>\n

Works of art varied in music genre and included Madonna, Public Enemy, Prince, The Fall, Aphex Twin’s pseudonym Polygon Window and Blur and depicted their auras using pop art collage and surrealism techniques.The book could be seen as a social commentary on the vast spectrum of 90’s genres, that stretched from street gangster rap to studio-manufactured popstars. Like Wrake’s work, it’s reflective rather than selective of it’s subjects. It has been collated together by his widow Lisa Wrake and features a prologue from former NME editor Andrew Collins.<\/p>\n

End Of A Century<\/em>\u00a0will be release on 25th June\u00a0through the publisher SelfMadeHero.<\/p>\n
