From starting as a model in the 1920s, to establishing herself as a successful fashion and fine art photographer, to then covering some of the monumental events in history for Vogue<\/a>, Lee Miller<\/a> is an inspirational lady.\u00a0To fit in with our monthly theme of “Lady”<\/a>, we wanted to cover the new exhibition celebrating Lee Miller<\/a>‘s life and works currently on at the Imperial War Museum<\/a>.

“IWM London presents Lee Miller<\/a>: A Woman\u2019s War<\/i>, a new major exhibition of 150 photographs depicting women\u2019s experience of the Second World War by acclaimed photographer Lee Miller. <\/a>Lee Miller<\/a>: A Woman\u2019s War <\/i>is sponsored by Barclays and produced in collaboration with the Lee Miller<\/a> Archives.”<\/b><\/p>\n

“Lee Miller<\/a>: A Woman\u2019s War <\/i>will trace Miller\u2019s remarkable career as a photographer for Vogue <\/a>Magazine <\/i>and for the first time will address her vision of gender. Miller<\/a> was one of only four female professional photographers to be accredited as US official war correspondents during the Second World War. Recognised today as one of the most important female war photographers of the twentieth century, through her work Miller<\/a> offers an intriguing insight into the impact of conflict on women\u2019s lives, detailing their diverse experiences and her own world view. ”<\/p>\n

The exhibition explores the impact\u00a0of the war on women in particular. This interesting angle demands\u00a0such a raw thoughtful response from the audience. The fragile Black and white prints reflect the uncertainty of the time and atmosphere in the war.<\/p>\n
