{"id":32201,"date":"2016-04-01T10:30:35","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T09:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centmagazine.co.uk\/?p=32201"},"modified":"2016-03-31T16:22:11","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T15:22:11","slug":"32201","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/?p=32201","title":{"rendered":"Romance: Young Souls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It seems more and more shops brands and companies are realizing the power of the over 60\u2019s with various TV programmes, books and products all very much targeted at this age range, probably one of the few still with a disposable income\u2026<br \/>\nNow, it doesn&#8217;t mean you have to be in this age bracket to enjoy any of these, especially the books and films, but if you want to scare yourself a little and see the potential of what your parents or grandparents could be very well up to why not try a few of these?<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.molifilms.com\/\">Golden Years: Banks, Bowls &amp; Bingo<\/a><\/em>, written &amp; directed by John Miller (Living in Hope, Gatecrashers) and produced by Mark Foligno (Moon, The King\u2019s Speech), is coming to UK\u2019s cinemas on April 22. It tells a story of Arthur and Martha Goode, retired couple, who refuse to accept the injustices of old age\u2026 The refuse to take the loss of their pensions and decide to hit a series of banks and steal back what\u2019s rightfully theirs. Who would expect an elderly couple of becoming a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde? Initially things go to plan but soon they realize they have to carry out even a larger raid in order to stop their social club from being turned into a supermarket. What\u2019s next? You should see for yourself\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg created an amazing character &#8211; Martha Anderson, 79-year-old lady who dreams of escaping her care home and robbing a bank. And <em>The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules<\/em> book was born! Martha along with her oldest friends \u2013 otherwise known as the League of Pensioners \u2013 decides to rebel against the rules (like early bedtimes and plastic meals). Eventually, she decides to stand up for old aged pensioners everywhere (true Robin Hood style). And the store doesn&#8217;t end there, there is a continuation! Martha and The League of Pensioners go to Vegas in the second book called <em>The Little Old Lady Strikes Again<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, there is also a comic book about crazy fun old man! <em>The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared<\/em> is written by Jonas Jonasson and tells the readers the story that starts at Alan Karlsson hundredth birthday party. Alan has no interest in this party so he climbs out the window of his retirement home and\u2026 disappears. He takes a bus and on the spur-of-the-moment he steals a suitcase from the fellow passenger. The suitcase is full of drug money, so now Alan is chased by both drug dealers and police. Throughout the book we learn about Karlsson\u2019s past episodes from his long life (turns out he is participant behind the scenes in many of the key events of the 20th century).<\/p>\n<p>Pensioners have their TV documentary too \u2013 you can watch what party-animal grannies do (blowing their fuel allowances and children\u2019s inheritances) in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.channel5.com\/show\/oaps-behaving-badly-series\">OAPs behaving badly<\/a> on Channel 5. You probably cannot imagine how wild the things can get\u2026<\/p>\n<p>These &#8216;old&#8217; people can totally prove Bernard Shaw&#8217;s famous saying that youth is wasted on the young!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/gallery_uktv-oaps-behaving-badly.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
