We featured him in our article &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/digital.centmagazine.co.uk\/burden-to-create\/#0\" target=\"_blank\">Burden to Create<\/a>&#8216; in our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/digital.centmagazine.co.uk\/burden-to-create\/#0\" target=\"_blank\">Chronicle Issue<\/a>\u00a0Digital Magazine, which highlighted the new creativity that was emerging from young African\/African-American artists. \u00a0The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts launched an exhibition which began June 11th 2016 and is finishing on September 5th 2016, it is entitled &#8216;Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic&#8217;.<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-34613 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png?resize=580%2C326\" alt=\"image\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png?resize=600%2C337&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png?resize=680%2C382&amp;ssl=1 680w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image2.png?resize=770%2C433&amp;ssl=1 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a>The aim of the exhibition is to celebrate Wiley&#8217;s inspiring and retrospective artwork and it will be presented through 60 captivating paintings and sculptures. It puts traditional European artwork, out of its comfort zone and Kehinde&#8217;s work has sparked a much needed conversation about the absence of people of colour from historical images or narratives even. Wiley often depicts his contemporary black subjects wearing trainers, hoodies and other clothing associated with the African-American culture of today.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\"
