I was recently in a conversation with a friend and they said ‘I don’t trust anyone that doesn’t like music’. While that’s a little extreme, life without a bit of music could be a little dull. Whether it be raining, sun shining bright, whether you’re happy or sad, with the right songs you can feel like you have company or a friend that understands and sings out exactly how you’re feeling.<\/p>\n

The Bee Gees definitely found that bridge that let people connect to their music, as they formed in 1958 and just under 60 years on tribute and inspiration is still drawn from the legendary band that remains one of the world\u2019s best-selling music artists of all time. They even have an album of their ‘Timeless: The All-Time Greatest Hits\u2019 that is to be released on the 21st of April.<\/p>\n

The three brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb had a very successful career, but they did have moments that their gleaming white disco clothes shined that smidge bit brighter, and that was during the late 60\u2019s and early 70\u2019s when disco music was popular.<\/p>\n

All the best things come from passion, and personalisation and they recognised this. The Bee Gee\u2019s wrote all their own hits, as well as producing several major hits for other artists. They might have shifted their style at some points but they always kept their words their own.<\/p>\n

They have sold more than 220 million records and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 where their citation\u00a0stated \u2018”Only\u00a0Elvis Presley,\u00a0the Beatles,\u00a0Michael Jac0kson,\u00a0Garth Brooks\u00a0and\u00a0Paul McCartney\u00a0have outsold the Bee Gees.”<\/p>\n

We decided to check out what songs today’s musicians drew inspiration from or even just appreciated from the collection of the Bee Gee’s unique songs, but also to share a few new tracks and EP’s they have coming out that may also float your boat:<\/p>\n

Preben from the band\u00a0Hajk’s\u00a0picked ‘How deep is your love’ and said it’s is by far their\u00a0favourite Bee Gees song. Preben loved this song when he was a kid, but couldn’t\u00a0figure out why, till now he realised it has to do with the endless soothing chord progression intertwined with the breezy vocals. It’s classical and sophisticated, yet so cheesy. Way out of my comfort zone, yet so comforting. Apparently just like some of their songs.<\/p>\n

Hajk has a new track out \u00a0‘Nothing Left to say<\/a>‘ from their new album coming out soon called ‘Hajk’. Definitely worth a listen.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hajks\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Emperor Machine<\/a> got a little bit sentimental too and picked \u201cYou Should be Dancing\u201d as his favourite song. He explained that he still has the album from when he was just 9 years old. \u00a0‘I loved the album! As I grew older this track was played during my favourite part of the film, where he gets on the dance floor and thinks f***k it and just starts disco dancing. \u00a0Brilliant! \u00a0Makes me smile, what a fantastic track.’<\/p>\n

The Emperor Machine<\/a> releases Voltage Controlled EP<\/a> on Record Store Day on new record label Vertical Tones<\/a> available from Juno \/ Bandcamp.<\/em><\/p>\n

Stephen Emmer<\/a> picked ‘Boogie Child’ he said\u00a0“<\/b>It’s a musical watershed moment where the Aussie harmonists take Britpop into America’s Ohio players’ stomping territory with a bit of Manilow madness in the middle; what a brave cocktail!”<\/p>\n

Stephen<\/span>\u00a0Emmer<\/span>\u00a0releases new album Home Ground<\/a> feat Chaka Khan, Patti Austin, Leon Ware out June 9th supporting War Child<\/a> the charity.\"Home_Ground_Cover_ex_Featured_Artists_(640px)_opt\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Danny De Matos in the Lisbon Kid<\/a> picked the less know ‘New York Mining Disaster 1941’. “Their debut single, the start of it all. The first hit. Written on a dark staircase in Polydor during a power cut, it was inspired by tragic the Aberfan mining disaster of 1966 during their brief Mod period. Tempo changes and a challenging arrangement. A much more artistic imperative. You can hear the Beatles and the Kinks in there… and a Jaws harp. Skills… 50 years ago. Props.”<\/p>\n

Lisbon Kid<\/a> releases Ltd edition vinyl album Lisbon Kid on 22 April for Record Store Day. The single “At the end of the day’ is out on 5th May through Wall of Sound.<\/em><\/p>\n

Morrissey & Marshall<\/a> had to go with ‘I Started A Joke’ from their \u00a01968 Album ‘Idea’. “I love Robin’s emotionally delivered vocal, the backing vocals, beautiful string arrangements and the general feel of this quintessentially 60’s sounding record – it’s magical.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morrissey & Marshall have a new single ‘She’s Got Love’<\/a> out May 5th. Be one of the first to hear it!<\/em><\/p>\n
