Born in Paris in 1962 to a family in the perfume industry Initially choosing to study Art History in New York, Frederic made a change in 1986 and accepted a position at the famed perfume lab Roure Bertrand Dupont. At Roure, Frederic learned about raw ingredients, composition and all aspects of perfume creation from some of the finest professionals in the business. After working in the industry for more than 15 years, Frederic was ready to embark on a new adventure.In 2000, using his connections and experience in the industry, Frederic invited nine top perfumers to create their own original perfumes, with complete creative freedom and with no financial restrictions regarding ingredients or technologies. These fragrances were packaged in bottles that feature the name of the perfumer\u2014a first in the industry, where the perfumer is traditionally behind the scenes and credit for the scent is given to the fashion house or celebrity on the bottle.The original nine perfumes are now legendary in the industry   Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle has expanded to offers candles, innovative home scents, soap and body care products, all created with the same freedom as the first nine fragrances.. The earliest edition was created in 1999 and the newest is from 2017. Frederic Malle fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Jean-Claude Ellena, Dominique Ropion, Maurice Roucel, Bruno Jovanovic, Carlos Benaim, Olivia Giacobetti, Pierre Bourdon, Edmond Roudnitska, Ralf Schwieger, Edouard Flechier, Michel Roudnitska and Sophia Grojsman In 2000, at the turn of the millennium, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Mallelaunched his fragrance collection, Les Editions de Parfum Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Malle. He\u2019s not a nose \u2013 although Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric grew up immersed in the world of perfumery: he is the grandson of Serge Heftler-Louiche, who created the Parfums Christian Dior line. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric started his career at the perfume labs run by Roure Bertrand Dupont, in France \u2013 and later continued to work in the world of luxury, as a consultant for Christian Lacroix and Herm\u00e8s, in which fragrance plays an important part.Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Malle\u2018s idea was to give perfumers free rein to create the fragrance of their dreams. But what was truly innovative was his decision to put their names on the bottle. Until then, most perfumers had been well-kept secrets, working behind the scenes in their labs and \u2013 except on a few occasions \u2013 remaining anonymous, while the perfume house (or the fashion  designer) got all the credit.     The creation of Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle in 2000 heralded a return to luxury perfumery. Each product is different, as each product is a collaboration between Malle and various creatives. The project is approached as a work of art, giving the creatives full creative freedom. In this way, no perfume follows a predetermined idea, the perfumers follow the fusion of scents in experimental directions, creating an innovative but lasting fragrance. Frederic Malle is one of the most legitimate names in perfume design, as his grandfather created Parums Christian Dior. Over the years Malle has collected an almost unmatched knowledge of scents and aromas. Despite this, many of his fragrances can take between 6 and 18 months to craft. He famously called to &quot;eliminate all that is superfluous or merely decorative&quot;, which mirrors his desire for simple and elegant fragrances. His ideas would revolutionise the fragrance market. When the two began talking about ideas for the scent, they immediately agreed that it must have a mysterious element &#8211; it must let the imagination run free. Like Alber&#8217;s own designs, it would empower whoever wore it. &#8220;We must trust our instincts&#8221; &#8211; Malle and Elbaz artistic freedom results in a blend of the most luxurious materials: <em>Turkish rose oil and Egyptian jasmine, enhanced by a touch of peach, rest on a bed of amber and frankincense imbued with Haitian vetiver. A final touch of aldehydes sharpens the perfume\u2019s opulence with an urban edge.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<a
