{"id":55747,"date":"2018-10-23T15:57:18","date_gmt":"2018-10-23T14:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centmagazine.co.uk\/?p=55747"},"modified":"2018-10-23T15:58:17","modified_gmt":"2018-10-23T14:58:17","slug":"woven-a-glimpse-into-the-vas-christian-dior-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/?p=55747","title":{"rendered":"Woven; A glimpse into The V&#038;A\u2019s Christian Dior exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The V&amp;A will host one of the largest and most comprehensive fashion retrospectives on the House of Dior to go on exhibition in the U.K next year, from the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> February 2019 up until the 14th July 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is a re-imagining of last year\u2019s exhibition Christian Dior: Couturier de <em>R\u00eave<\/em> at the\u00a0Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, curated by Olivier Gabet and Florence Muller, but with almost 50 per cent new material.\u00a0 Across 500 objects, rarities, garments, incredible installations as well as an important inclusion of part of the story, seemingly untold before now, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams aims to immerse you truly and fully in the world of everything Dior.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/1-1-e1540305248361.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55810 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/1-1-721x1024.jpg?resize=580%2C823\" alt=\"1 (1)\" width=\"580\" height=\"823\" \/><\/a>Christian Dior with model Sylvie, circa 1948 Courtesy of Christian Dior<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The V&amp;A team, led by fashion and textiles curator Oriole Cullen and set designer Nathalie Crini\u00e8re, will expose not only the life and work of Christian Dior, from the fashion house\u2019s beginnings through to its defining looks, designers and influences but also a very special exploration of Dior in Britain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dior was famously enamoured with the British and their culture, admiring the grandeur of their houses, gardens, flowers and ocean liners. An incredibly superstitious man, Dior found this five-pointed star on the street outside the British Embassy in Paris. He met with Marcel Boussac that same night, an important meeting leading to the eventual financing of Dior&#8217;s fashion house by the entrepreneur. It was hard for Dior not to see a parallel between the two events and to count his lucky stars.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">The exhibition aims to represent every step in the journey in the tale of Dior.
