Williams<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you know that <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some Like it Hot<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Double Indemnity<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sunset Boulevard<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are just three of the iconic films from master filmmaker Billy Wilder? \u00a0Growing from humble roots in Poland to a career as a renowned filmmaker during Hollywood\u2019s Golden Age, Wilder had an undeniable influence on the industry.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a career spread across five decades, Wilder made it through the deficiency that was the Great Depression, as well as the tension that surrounded both World Wars. \u00a0Born to a Jewish family in 1906, he began his screenwriting career in 1920s Berlin before relocating to Paris, and then Hollywood, after Hitler rose to power. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wilder was nominated for 21 Academy Awards, making him both the second-most nominated director (with Martin Scorsese) and screenwriter. \u00a0In 1986, the American Film Institute awarded Wilder with the Life Achievement Award, and in 1993, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts. He is heralded in the world of Hollywood censorship for his major role in expanding acceptable subject matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a part of The Masters of Cinemas Series, Eureka Entertainment is releasing Wilder\u2019s 1963 classic <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Irma la Douce<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Blu-ray on March 18. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After Nestor is unjustly fired from his position as a cop, he falls in love with prostitute Irma and decides that disguising himself as British \u201cLord X,\u201d Irma\u2019s newest client, is the best way to keep her off the streets. Things get complicated when \u201cLord X\u201d is thought to have been murdered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AtuBtsEvYgw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Sunset Boulevard\u00a0<\/em>(1950)<\/p>\n<p>Check out some clips from three of Wilder\u2019s other films, all of which you must see!<\/p>\n<p>Forgotten silent film star Norma hires screenwriter Joe to rework her script, but their relationship quickly turns toxic.
