{"id":60051,"date":"2019-07-15T18:11:50","date_gmt":"2019-07-15T17:11:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centmagazine.co.uk\/?p=60051"},"modified":"2019-07-15T18:15:52","modified_gmt":"2019-07-15T17:15:52","slug":"power-tiare-my-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.centmagazine.co.uk\/?p=60051","title":{"rendered":"Power; Tiare My Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We think of a floral perfume as a romantic essay; a letter of love to the flowers we love to wear, but nothing is more romantic than a soliflore: a perfume that is built around the ideals of a single flower, trying to recreate the absolute essence of the whole of it. Diptyque have a small but exquisite collection of these.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2014 they have taken the idea of this\u00a0concept and have released several soliflore perfumes highlighting when a particularly good harvest of a key flower is available.\u00a0\u00a0Their first was a celebration of the Mimosa, followed by Jasmine in 2015 next in 2016\u00a0 was the wonderful Rose de Mai and now in 2019 c0mes the delicate and uniquely harvested Tiare flower, and the scent <em>Essences Insens\u00e9es\u00a0<\/em><em>Tiare Flower<\/em>.\u00a0 To bring this to life they approached\u00a0the\u00a0superbly talented perfumer\u00a0<strong style=\"color: #555555;\">Fabrice Pellegrin <\/strong>who\u00a0has collaborated with them on many occasions, to be the nose for this specific scent.<\/p>\n<p>The flower is a far cousin to the gardenia.\u00a0Gardenia taitensis, and is also referred to as the Tahitian gardenia\u00a0or\u00a0Tiar\u00e9 flower. It is made up of dark, dark green leaves and creamy white petite lobed flowers, which once handpicked, are left to sit unopened in oil for around 15 days before any extraction can be made. Unsurprisingly, this makes it a very expensive ingredient in perfumery. Seen as a national flower in the French Polynesian and the Cook Islands it is n<span style=\"color: #222222;\">ative to the highland shores of the\u00a0<\/span>South Pacific where it is seen here in very hard regard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/4862128838_04a63c484d_b.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60055\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/4862128838_04a63c484d_b-e1563209431402.jpg?resize=580%2C435\" alt=\"IMG_4831\" width=\"580\" height=\"435\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Image\u00a0<a class=\"owner-name truncate\" style=\"font-weight: 600; color: #006dac;\" title=\"Go to troy mckaskle's photostream\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/troymckaskle\/\" data-track=\"attributionNameClick\">troy mckaskle<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For this fragrance, the growers from the Tahiti island revealed to the perfumer, a rare extract derived from a very small crop. The ingredient of an exceptional quality offered olfactive nuances of the newly-picked flower, fresh from the fields that surrounded the sea.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Tiar_dans_les_mains-e1563209193263.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-60054\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Tiar_dans_les_mains-1024x685.jpg?resize=580%2C387\" alt=\"Tiar_dans_les_mains\" width=\"580\" height=\"387\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #737373;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The flower itself smells<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222;\">rich, creamy, and sweetly perfumed, reminiscent of, say,\u00a0 tuberose in some sense, but this flower is far more genteel and ladylike.\u00a0 It is\u00a0<span style=\"color: #382b22;\">plush, heady and feminine (although the flower is worn by both men and women in Polynesia)\u00a0 and is\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0a0a0a;\">intensive yet has a veil of sheerness to it.\u00a0 It is one of those oh so perfect white florals but not nearly as common as many because of\u00a0price dictates. But unlike other white flowers, it has a sort of airiness that lifts it and stops it being potentially sickly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #737373;\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"color: #382b22;\"><span style=\"color: #0a0a0a;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/savoir-faire-8-91928c18e0bdfe9b97e6d40e2f4b8e49362e2c7ba7a60af0a22e9c3565fc1e8b.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-60056\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/centmagazine.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/savoir-faire-8-91928c18e0bdfe9b97e6d40e2f4b8e49362e2c7ba7a60af0a22e9c3565fc1e8b-925x1024.jpg?resize=580%2C641\" alt=\"savoir-faire-8-91928c18e0bdfe9b97e6d40e2f4b8e49362e2c7ba7a60af0a22e9c3565fc1e8b\" width=\"580\" height=\"641\" \/><\/a> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>So Fabrice\u00a0<span style=\"color: #737373;\">Pellegrin<\/span> has masterfully taken the flower that is his ideal.
