\nState of the Art Cinema Competition<\/em><\/p>\n

Are you an emerging creative talent? If so, a golden opportunity has arisen for you to win the golden ticket: the honour of designing a film poster for a UK cinema release later in 2013-14. Organised by UK film distributors, the competition invites young designers to submit their poster interpretation of a current film – either Frances Ha<\/a> or Borrowed Time<\/a>. Submissions are all displayed on an e-gallery<\/a>, where a panel of industry experts will judge and make the final decision.<\/p>\n

\"State<\/a>
\nState of the Art Cinema exhibition<\/em><\/p>\n

To find inspiration, one could visit the Film Distributors\u2019 Association<\/a> (FDA)\u2019s free exhibition called State of the Art Cinema<\/a>, which opens for 10 days at The Brick Lane Gallery<\/a> Annexe this August. Under six broad themes of heroes and superheroes, Great Britain on screen, Comedy, Dramatic twists and turns, Suspense, and Family Animation; more than sixty artworks and images from a diverse range of films released in the U.K. this summer are on display. FDA President, Lord David Puttnam of Queensgate CBE said, \u201cThe range of images in the \u2018State of the Art Cinema\u2019 exhibition are proof positive that the dynamic arts of graphic design and photography are alive and kicking in today\u2019s vibrant, digital world of film.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n‘Saul Bass: A Life in Film & Design’ by Jennifer Bass & Pat Kirkham. Published by Laurence King<\/em><\/p>\n

Alternatively, why not be pleasantly inspired by one of the greatest American designers of the 20th Century, Saul Bass? The book Saul Bass: A Life in Film & Design<\/a> is designed by his daughter Jennifer Bass and written by Pat Kirkham. Containing more than 1,400 illustrations including a series of iconic film posters he created, it provides a comprehensive account of his compelling work.<\/p>\n
