It was a blisteringly cold winter’s afternoon as Paul left home wrapped tightly in layers of thick seasonal checkered coat, scarf, and gloves. Walking up the hill surrounded by lush winter greenery he absorbed on every level the natural world around him all set off by a low glowing sun in a bright clear sky. The crisp green and balsamic fir trees, burnt orange fallen leaves, and wet wood still holding the rain from the early morning shower all enveloped him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He paused at a nearby bar and decided the weather called for a warming drink. Walking in he drew in a deep breath, taking in scenting leather, wood, and tobacco as the old bar came to life in his mind and heart. Scents that took hold of his heart swam subliminally around him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul chose to sit down at the bar, where he slightly de-robed as the warmth of the burning fire next to it enveloped and heated him. The tones of burnt wood and smoke caressed there was into his nostrils as he ordered a honey-toned rum. Tobacco rose from another man seated in a nearby deep red sumptuous leather armchair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this glowing haze, his whole body relaxed, sipping his rum he felt gloriously lost to the lusciousness surrounding him. But then something caught his attention, he smelt it before he saw it. His nose filled with vanilla, roses and jasmine, and without conscious thought, he turned his head to see walking across the room a stunning tall dark-haired woman dressed in a soft cashmere red dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As she walked past the silage of her scent wafted, Paul was immediately frozen in time. Evey single faceted note pulled him towards her. In the flash of a second, his mind was swamped with images of mothers, grandmothers, and past loves. He was left powerlessly flawed unable to move from his spot at the bar. Yet as powerless as he felt he was also deeply moved deeply affected and even he was go so far as to say at that very moment in that very bar the moment she walked by her was deeply in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so sums up the very power scent hold over us. The beauty of perfumes is that they are deeply personal a form of expression and because they evoke the strongest of memories with a single note. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
