The Beautiful Flora and Fauna of The Magnolia Leaf
[publishpress_authors_box]
Flora and Fauna are timeless, loved for thousands of years; their appeal never fades, unlike the delicate petals, colours and perfume, which are all ephemeral. They communicate emotions, brighten surroundings, lift our spirits via their scent, shape and colour and are still one of the most enduring symbols of beauty and love.

Whether gifted, grown in a garden, or admired in nature, flowers and plants continue to captivate us with their natural beauty and timeless charm. Their mood-boosting powers are a universal source of joy; yet, sadly, they fade. One of the great ways to capture that fleeting beauty is to capture its magical qualities in a fragrance.
Flowers and plants have been celebrated for many years by the Australian beauty and wellness brand Aesop. Established in 1987 its objective has always been to formulate skin, hair and body care products of the finest quality, sourcing plant-based and laboratory-made ingredients, and using only those with a proven record of safety and efficacy. After all, science, alongside nature, can give us the most dramatic and beautiful products.

With the collection, find 12 fragrances celebrating different facets of herbaceous, aquatic, resinous, floral and woody notes. Each one is a nuanced, elegant scent, that subverts and redefines these classifications with nonconformity. Their newest scent is no different.
Created with long-term collaborator Céline Barel, it subverts traditional expectations of a floral scent with facets of herbaceous Magnolia Leaf to express the bloom.
Opening with regal, appley-earthy floral and herbal elements of Roman Camomile with soft spice of cardamon and pink pepper. Its heart, where usually we would kind straight forward florals, is made of Magnolia Leaf, with its lemony green lilts of herbaceous Geranium, warm spice again from woody minty herbaceous Cardamom. Its finale is made up of soft Sandalwood, dry green and resinous Cedar Heart, and woody smokey earthy Cypriol Heart.
This is a new kind of defiant floral fragrance, one with unexpected contrasts: Warm yet green spice converges with herbaceous depths, while the resonant glossy, dark green of Magnolia Leaf finds roots in sumptuous woody notes.
Gentle yet powerful in one, its rebellious facets combined warps the wearer in comfort yet embolden them with an unusual power. Keeping in vain with all the other 11 scents in the Aesop collection, this is yet another stand-out scent.
Its name, Aurner, comes from an Old Norse verb meaning ‘to be adorned, to be embellished with flowers’. In many cultures, it is traditional to offer flowers or garlands to newcomers. Here, it is like a calling in a welcoming into one’s own power.
‘Aurner is designed as an evolutionary step within Aesop’s aromatic world. It is a truly defiant bloom, offering a different perspective on floral fragrance.’
Céline Barel,
This new scent is a vivacious and daring take on floral and Fauna notes providing that flowers need not be just one-faceted in style. Also as with all the fragrances from Aesop, this is another wonderfully brave and refreshing perfume.
