National Theatre at Home Platform is Now Streaming New Performances

A live capture of Waitress, which stars Sara Bareilles as Jenna, hit the National Theatre at Home platform on the 14th of February. The production was filmed in New York, with the stage show directed by Diane Paulus. Since then, two other productions have joined the streaming service, including Death of England and Coriolanus. Live Streaming Is Transforming Entertainment Experiences

The National Theatre at Home, adding new live captures to their platform, helps to highlight an important trend. Audiences are now gravitating towards world-class experiences without having to leave their living room.

Another live-recorded theatre performance that is on the platform is Coriolanus. The production ran in 2024 and was directed by Lyndsey Turner, a National Theatre Associate. It tells the story of Rome’s most celebrated warrior, but he ends up becoming an enemy of the city. 

Death of England has also been added to the platform, with the trio of plays available to be viewed separately. The performance is said to be fantastic and a must-see for anyone who is a fan of theatre. With more and more content being filmed for streaming purposes, it’s certainly interesting to see how technology is evolving to the point where it’s now becoming cheaper for production companies to film and publicise shows that might not have otherwise seen the light of day.

Not only is this making theatre more accessible, but it’s also helping to give actors the chance to cement their legacy as performers, as the shows are available to watch years after the performance ends.
