Love Your Stunning Grey Hair; Grey is the New Black
It’s 2026, and we are fighting back; we have had enough of the way the world is propelling us forward into a world of boring sameness; we want to have it better. We want to stand out, we want to be different, we want to be unique, not a carbon copy of every N list celebrity that fills the void that is social media. It is happening, with part of this being played out particularly by women who have no intention of being quiet once they have reached a certain age. In the past, when ladies got to this point, it was as if they were expected to fade into the background. Thankfully, that is no longer the case, and so as we live longer, we choose to live brighter and more vivacious, far more exciting and accepting of who we are. Older Women
There is a real shift in how people perceive ‘grey-older ladies’; once, they were the ones who sat at the back of social engagements as though an embarrassment to all. Not so come 2026, where now the spirited women are donning colourful clothes, bold jewellery, show-stopping hats, very big bags and most of all refusing to have badly dyed hair; They are choosing to go grey, stay grey and polish the grey so it shimmers for a new take on age.
Hairstyles
There must be something quite powerful about grey hair because a few years ago, young women were going to hair colourists to get their naturally coloured hair turned grey, so what is behind the shift, and what does it represent?
Powerful women
It may well be because it’s a very powerful statement of confidence, authenticity, and self-acceptance to let hair be in its natural stage of ageing. It’s as if we are saying no, I don’t want to be a woman who fades away. I’m one of those women who loves her own uniqueness, whether it be steel grey or soft slate with a pink-tipped hue; I’m here, not just to stay, to be seen and to make bold statements, so dont right me off just yet.
Celebrating success
It’s a statement of owning one’s life journey, celebrating natural beauty, and challenging outdated beauty standards that traditionally linked grey hair in women to decline rather than distinction.
Rewriting the code
But interestingly, it’s not just about how we look. We are rewriting the workplace, too. Often from personal experience and the desire to pursue passions. Now, with increased opportunities in freelancing, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and digital fields, women over 50 are becoming a significant force in business founding and flexible work arrangements. Leveraging extensive experience and increasingly taking control of their career paths. Even using life’s frustrations to solve problems for themselves and other women.
Leadership
One such woman is Silvina Neder, who was originally from Argentina, and who had a career in market research before embracing her grey hair at age 50 and starting a new path in modelling and influencing. A pro-ageing advocate who created a hair care brand, Silvina London, to address the specific needs of natural silver hair, after realising the lack of effective products for her own grey hair journey, making it a self-funded venture. The brand focuses on nourishing ingredients and enhancing natural tones without harsh chemicals. So we asked her all about her journey and her products
.Cent. What made you decide to start a hair company?
Silvina. Because I simply could not find products that truly worked for grey hair. If the colour result was good, my hair felt dry. If the formula was nourishing, it dulled the colour or even left blue tones. I tried everything, from the most expensive brands to mainstream ones, and nothing gave me both healthy hair and a beautiful silver tone.
At the same time, women in my community kept asking me what I used. We were all facing the same problem. I loved my grey hair and wanted to give it the best possible care. When I realised what I needed did not exist, I decided to create it.
.Cent. How did you go about researching and sourcing in a day and age when people want to know what is in their products?
Silvina. I work closely with expert formulators and a highly reliable laboratory that sources from top-quality suppliers. I start by being very clear about what I avoid, for example: no sulphates, no silicones, no parabens and no chemical pigments.
Then I briefed the results I want: hydration, softness, strength and colour protection. The formulators proposed ingredients and sources, and I chose them based on their quality and benefits. I am also in constant contact with my customers. I listen to their concerns, allergies and expectations, and that feedback shapes every decision. It is a continuous dialogue between science and real life.
.Cent. What do we need to do once our hair turns grey, and why does it need special treatment?
Silvina. Grey and silver hair needs protection from brassiness. When it stays white or silver, it looks luminous and refined. That is why gentle, naturally-derived blue pigments are important. They neutralise yellow tones without turning the hair blue. As we get older, hair also becomes drier and finer, so hydration and nourishment are essential. Ingredients that strengthen and soften the hair make a visible difference. And once we stop colouring, we usually want fewer chemicals on our hair. We have stopped hiding behind colour, so we want care that is clean, respectful and aligned with that choice.
.Cent. What do we need to know that big brands are just not telling us?
Silvina. Big brands create products to reach as many people as possible. Their priority is scale. Small brands work differently. We create for very specific needs. I choose formulas for the hair I live with every day, and I use my own products constantly, so my standards are very personal and very high. Big brands invest heavily in advertising. Small brands invest deeply in formulation quality and ingredient integrity. That is where all my energy goes.
.Cent. Was it difficult, because you are such a small company, to find out the truth behind some of the things that go into products that may not be ‘good for us’ or ‘good for our world’?
Silvina. Yes, very. Because doing things properly is expensive. Clean formulations, ethical sourcing and responsible choices cost more. As a small brand, I choose to invest in what touches the hair and skin directly, even if that leaves fewer resources for marketing, technology or a perfect website. Integrity always comes first.
.Cent.Why do you feel we are embracing grey now more than ever?
Silvina. Because women were tired of hiding. Hiding their roots, hiding their age, hiding a part of who they are.
When you see other women embracing grey with pride, something shifts. You stop covering up your reality and start owning it. Showing up as your true self is one of the most empowering things you can do.
.Cent. What is the most important element of this business for you, on a personal level?
Silvina. Trust and simplicity. I believe in every Silvina LONDON product. Each one has a clear purpose. I intentionally keep the routine simple: shampoo, conditioner, oil. Hair solved with the minimum steps. No confusion, no products people don’t need, just what works and what we need.
I also love being involved in everything. I built my website myself, I answer customer emails personally, and I listen constantly to feedback. This brand is a conversation, not a corporation.
And above all, I love seeing women and men feel proud of their grey hair. I truly believe in ageing naturally, with dignity, beauty and confidence.
It’s as if it has become empowering to show that you accept your hair is changing, and that’s OK. It’s now easy to blend grey in with your existing shade, and there are even more shampoos and hair products available to tone up silver strands and make them appear more glossy.
The offering included Grey Hair Shampoo, a naturally derived blue magnolia pigment that balances hair’s natural shade and stops brassiness, all the while keeping it soft and hydrated. A Grey Hair Conditioner to bring strong, full, deeply hydrated grey hair and make it soft, easy to comb and full of movement. The 93% naturally derived conditioner is with Coconut, Rosehip, Babassu, Oat and Aloe Vera.Â
Her latest add-on is the Grey Hair Oil Ritual. A light, blue-toned oil enriched with coconut, oat and shea oils. Comforts and restores the driest Grey Hair. 99% Naturally derived.
As an overview, it is clear that the brand works hard to be open and as clean as possible. With naturally derived pigments and hygroscopic amino acids. Natural Betaine, with its moisture-loving nature, ensures hair stays hydrated and nourished. Glycerine, a preservative, not only hydrates but also strengthens hair. Babassu Oil, a natural conditioner and silicone alternative, treats split ends, strengthens strands, and adds a brilliant shine.
In collaboration with one of the most reputable and advanced scientific labs in the UK, Silvina London is a B-certified company, and they have crafted a unique fusion of naturally derived ingredients and cutting-edge science.
They also use biodegradable Emogreen L15 (a biodegradable alternative to volatile silicone oils and mineral oil) and Guarsafe (natural, sustainable, and environmentally friendly) to keep hair soft and manageable. Aquarich, extracted from Black Oats, adds gloss and guards against split ends, leaving your hair smoother. The nourishing oils, including Coconut Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, and Oat Oil, protect, repair, and provide essential moisture for grey tresses.
Also find added Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice Powder, known for its soothing and scalp-friendly properties. Lastly, Silvina expresses the whole idea beautifully by saying on her website
Silvina is my real name. It holds a subtle echo of silver — a quiet tribute to the beautiful Grey Hair this line was created to care for. I wanted the name to reflect the trust, care, and intention behind every formula.
Silvina Neder
Power comes from within the self, and if 2026 is about anything, it’s about reclaiming who we truly are.
