Sunshine and Shimmer: Summer 2026 with Love from Chanel
Whatever the weather, summer brings a shiny shimmer to our mindset. The lightest clothes, the easiest, softest shoes, and a cool drink allow for a sunny disposition. A day at the beach may just be what the doctor ordered. But in a place where the weather may be a little inclement, a sunny disposition goes a long way on rained-out days. You don’t just need to go to the seaside for summer sunshine. In fact, once the beach was considered a little dangerous. Worry not, Chanel’s new Les Beiges collection for summer 2026 will bring a luminous outlook to your day. Travel history and The Seaside
You may not be aware, but before the mid-19th century, people didn’t go to the beach for fun; the ocean was seen as dangerous and wild. Biarritz, in France, changed our thinking and the history of beaches when the French Empress Eugénie built a palace there, turning the rugged coastline into the birthplace of European beach culture and summer leisure. From then on, the idea of holidaying on soft sand and oceanic shimmers took us by storm.
The Seaside
We are well aware that looking at the vast ocean triggers a calming effect in the brain. That beautiful rhythmic sound of crashing waves is known to alter brain waves, promoting relaxation. The feel of sunshine on skin naturally increases serotonin (the happiness hormone) and helps your body make Vitamin D. No lingering in it, of course.
Detoxification
We need to digitally disconnect, biologically reset, and physically relax, and summer is the perfect time; the seaside the perfect place. The combination of warm weather, soothing sounds, and vast open spaces directly reduces stress and helps us recharge. However, because the majority of us are not Empreesses, es, or independently wealthy enough to build our own castles by the sea, we have some options, and these also work if the weather doesn’t quite live up to our seasonal expectations.
Biarritz, France
The literal inspiration for the latest Chanel Les Beiges makeup 2026 collection is the town of Biarritz. The first home of sunny holidays, one with a particular connection to the fashion icon.
Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel opened a workshop-boutique in the elegant Villa Larralde, and while living in the area and mingling with the international circles there, she first made the connections that led to the creation of her legendary fragrance, Chanel No. 5. As well as influencing her first scent, she was inspired by the active, resort lifestyle of the Basque coast, encouraging her to pivot away from restrictive corsetry. She introduced comfortable, fluid silhouettes, incorporating local jersey fabrics and maritime-inspired stripes. It’s this very spirit we look to enjoy in the summer season.
Sunny Summer Days 2026
Our weather may be temperamental; it may not always play by the rules. Weather can feel not unlike a rock and roll band; rebellious because our atmosphere is a chaotic system governed by complex dynamics. Come the summer, we want to feel the joy of sun on skin, cloudless skies, and a happy-go-lucky atmosphere to go with. But what if the summer feels a little disappointing, or a trip to the coast is not possible? Worry not: Chanel Les Beiges 2026 brings us those effortless, subtle summer shades even when the weather doesn’t
Chanel’s beige and gold collection is still the most anticipated drop of the summer, perfect for balmy summer days and evenings or not-so-balmy days and nights.
Starting with the eyes, there’s the seasonal summer eye palette, a five-shade palette with an oyster-gold shade, sandy beiges and dainty pinky beiges, all the way to dusty tones and soft browns. There are five colourway options.
Next up, the cream blushes that melt into the skin and layer where desired. Available in two shades: sorbet-red and a shimmer berry hue. As well, there is a liquid highlighter that adds a natural enhancement to cheeks with a radiant glow, as if you had spent the day by the sea.
Lips that are juicy come next. Rouge Coco Flash adds five limited editions for the season, from a zesty soft shimmer of tomato red via a fruity crimson berry tone, a soft brunt ornage and a muted natural beige. Each is a butter that melts onto the lips and transforms into a sheer, glossy oil on application.
Nails off a reference to light blue via the Renaissance and the word Baigneuse, meaning the painting and statues of semi-naked bathers in art. Also find a sandy beige and a deep terracotta among the new and limited edition colours.
The Seaside
When the heat hits, we want the cool of a summer breeze and where is best for that? By the seaside, of course. But what if the summer feels a little disappointing, or a trip to the coast is not possible? Then you may need to experience it a different way. Chanel’s new Les Beiges make-up collection is here to the rescue.
Chanel Les Beiges 2026 Make Up
Chanel’s new coastal-inspired Les Beiges make-up collection is a showcase of shimmering highlighter, rosy cheek and lip products, the ultimate effortless sandy beige, brown and pink eyeshadow palette and the perfect ocean blue nail polish.
Escapism in a jar is the new travel bug. Don’t leave the country, the town, or the city; just utilise the Les Beiges to get the perfect summer glow to evoke a coastal town evoking salty air, crashing Atlantic waves, and old-world European leisure. Never forget that a swipe of gold added to the face can work wonders and become an alternative vacation.
